WHY TEIKA?

After 15 years in Spain, we — Beatrice and Edgars Miķelsoni returned to our homeland with a deep longing for family, roots, and purpose. In the heart of Liepāja, we discovered the perfect space to breathe new life into a legendary place — Teika. This location holds history: once, during the Soviet era, the very first coffee machine in Liepāja was installed right here. It was a meeting point — children bought pastries after school, and ladies stopped in for coffee on their way to the theatre. The aroma of Riga Black Balsam and fresh cakes filled the air.

With respect for its past and a passion for food, we revived Teika as a modern café — a place where international flavors meet seasonal local ingredients, where stories are shared, and where everyone feels welcome.

We want each guest to feel that Teika is more than just a restaurant — it’s a story of return, of dreams fulfilled, and of finding a place to belong.
